Major & Minor Bone Grafting
At Simply Dental Implants, we perform hundreds of bone grafting procedures each year. Over time, missing teeth can cause the jawbone to shrink, or resorb. This loss of bone often leads to insufficient quality and quantity of bone for dental implant placement. It can also cause shifting of remaining teeth, changes in bite, and alterations to facial structure. In many cases, this means patients are not immediate candidates for implants.
The good news is that modern dentistry allows us to regrow bone where it’s needed. This enables us to place implants of the correct size and strength, restore proper function, and improve the natural appearance of your smile.

Bone grafting is used to rebuild areas with inadequate bone due to tooth extractions, gum disease, or injury. Grafts may come from a tissue bank, or we may use synthetic or bovine bone materials. In the upper back jaw, sinus bone grafts can be performed to restore bone height.
In some cases, we use special dissolvable membranes beneath the gum to protect the graft and encourage new bone growth — a technique called guided bone regeneration (or guided tissue regeneration).
Major bone grafting is often required to repair significant defects in the jaw caused by trauma, tumor removal, or congenital conditions. Large or complex cases are typically referred to an oral surgeon, who can perform these procedures using advanced surgical techniques.
